【摘要】:1.1Thisguidecoversanintegrated,stepwisemethodforthequalitativeconceptualizationandquantitativecharacterizationofground-waterflowsystems,includingtheunsaturatedzone,fornaturalorhuman-inducedbehaviororchanges.1.2Thisguidemaybeusedatanyscaleofinvestigation,includingsite-specific,subregional,andregionalapplications.1.3Thisguidedescribesaniterativeprocessfordevelopingmultipleworkinghypothesesforcharacterizingground-waterflowsystems.Thisprocessaimsatreducinguncertaintywithrespecttoconceptualmodels,observation,interpretation,andanalysisintermsofhypothesisandrefinementofthemostlikelyconceptualmodeloftheground-waterflowsystem.Theprocessisalsoaimedatreducingtherangeofrealisticvaluesforparametersidentifiedduringthecharacterizationprocess.Thisguidedoesnotaddressthequantitativeuncertaintyassociatedwithspecificmethodsofhydrogeologicandground-watersystemcharacterizationandquantification,forexample,theeffectsofwellconstructiononwater-levelmeasurement.1.4Thisguideaddressesthegeneralprocedure,typesofdataneeded,andreferencesthatenabletheinvestigatortocompletetheprocessofanalysisandinterpretationofeachdatatypewithrespecttogeohydrologicprocessesandhydrogeologicframework.Thisguiderecommendsthegroupsofdataandanalysistobeusedduringeachstepoftheconceptualizationprocess.1.5Thisguidedoesnotaddressthespecificmethodsforcharacterizinghydrogeologicandground-watersystemproperties.1.6Thisguidedoesnotaddressmodelselection,design,orattributionforuseintheprocessofground-waterflowsystemcharacterizationandquantification.Thisguidedoesnotaddresstheprocessofmodelschematization,includingthesimplificationofhydrologicsystemsandtherepresentationofhydrogeologicparametersinmodels.1.7Thisguidedoesnotaddressspecialconsiderationsrequiredforcharacterizationofkarstandfracturedrockterrain.Insuchhydrogeologicsettings,refertoQuinlan(1)andGuideD5717foradditionalguidance.1.8Thisguidedoesnotaddressspecialconsiderationsregardingthesource,fate,andmovementofchemicalsinthesubsurface.1.9Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.10Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthisguidemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject'smanyuniqueaspects.Theword"Standard"inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.
